      Organic food and market prospectives

Some people prefer to eat organic food since they think it is healthier, tastier, and safer to eat. Others think it is better for the environment and improves the well-being of animals. The demand for organic products increased rapidly and the field witnessed a boom.

The importance of organic food

The organic food is food produced without the aid of chemicals such as fertilizers and without preservatives. It is free from artificial additives as well. Farmers use natural fertilizers like manure to enhance plant growth.

Animals growing organically are also not given antibiotics or hormones. Organic farming aims at improving soil quality and protecting groundwater. It diminishes pollution and can yield more excellent results for the environment.

The most common products are fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains, and meat. In our days, many organic products are available like sodas, cookies, and breakfast cereals.

Organic foods are made through farming work that only uses natural substances. This means avoiding all artificial chemicals, hormones, genetically modified organisms, and antibiotics. This food may contain more nutrients. That kind of food is usually beneficial as it provides more nutrients like antioxidants. For example, organic meat and milk can be good sources of certain nutrients like omega 3 and fatty acids.

Organic products do not contain chemical preservatives that are usually used to prolong their shelf life. Avoiding such synthetic additives is surely better for health.

The bottom line, organic food is better for the environment and humans as well. Organic farming may decrease pollution, improve soil fertility, and preserve lives. Farming without chemicals is indeed better for birds and all kinds of animals down to the smallest organisms.

The Organic food market

As people became more aware of the benefits of organic food and beverages, the industry is expected to witness huge growth in the near future. Add to that, the rise in the standards of living and awareness about environmental matters, and the unfortunate development of foodborne diseases are all reasons to boost efforts in the organic food market.

The investments in the organic food market are increasing both from the private investors and the government. All the European markets witnessed increases in organic food sector but global sales in UK remained low. Also during the COVID-19, the demand for organic food increased as consumers saw them as being healthier and good for immunity. Some predictions said that between 2021 and 2026 the trend of organic food market would reach about 2601 million. The government has also begun to invest in organic farming and it encourages the ones who work in the field. At present, organic foods such as coffee and tea have witnessed higher demand since they help in weight loss. Organic fruits and vegetables registered the highest revenues in the market.

Some foods are cheaper than those not grown organically. Also, there are some foods that can not be found in the grocery stores, but you could find them in the farmers markets. Some crops and products are even available online.

The role of government

Organic food market must be supported by the government. The help of the government was required to change the view of people to this type of food and must give support to investors since this kind of food is so expensive.

As an example the Indian government supplies assistance for advancing organic food market across the country through different plans.

The Paramparagat Kristi Vikas Yojana advancing collection based on organic farming with Participatory Guarantee System. Collection formation, training, certification and marketing are helped by the plans.

Also The Indian Farmer Producer Organisation helps farmers to export organic food. Farmers are assisted by Rs 25,000 per hectare for three years for organic crops including organic manure and bio fertilizers. Then the financial help reached about 50 percent , they supplied farmers with fertilizers and azatobacter.

With these schemes India became the leader in export of organic food such as tea , rice and cotton.

Drawbacks of organic food

Organic food is not unavoidably always better for you or the environment. People who prefer to go organic see that organic produce tastes better and think of it as safer, more nutritious, and better for health. But these opinions can be misconceptions and not true. Organic food does not contain chemical preservatives so it might go bad more quickly than non-natural crops. Besides, it is very expensive to purchase.

More importantly, Organic production allows a limited range of chemicals to be used, in contrast to the popular opinion that organic farming does not use any chemicals.

Nevertheless, it remains better than products fully dependent on chemicals.
