Alternative medicine is a term that illustrates medical therapies used instead of traditional treatments. It is distinguished as a range of medical methods and procedures from different cultures around the world. In some countries, societies use it to define practices that are out of mainstream medicine. Some people compare it to complementary or integrated medicine.

It is every practice that attempts to replicate the effects of the medicine. It is a name for medical methods and exercises that are not part of the health care system. Alternative therapy is used in place of conventional medicine.

Types of alternative medicine:

The most important alternative treatments are Acupuncture and Acupressure.

Acupuncture: it is the most known alternative therapy. It consists of placing needles into the body to bring energy back.

Acupressure: it is similar to acupuncture since it works on the principle that several particular points are the energy centers in the human body.

Alternative medicine's methods emphasize boosting the ability of the body to rebuild itself via energy, herbal complements, and other balancing methods. Food is one way of therapy.

Antacid food:

Antacid food is defined as a type of medicine utilized to regulate the acid levels in the stomach. There are various antacid foods that you have to try because of their natural antacids such as:

Bananas: These fruits are low in acid. They can help people with acid reflux. Bananas help to consolidate your digestive system. In addition, soluble fibers in bananas can help to move stomach contents through the digestive tract. That is great because food that sticks around will continue to produce acid.

Melon: Melons are a good source of magnesium, which is found in many therapies for acid reflux. Furthermore, melons possess a pH of 6.1 that makes them mildly acidic.

Oatmeal: Oatmeal is extremely high in fibers. They help prevent the symptoms of acid reflux.

Yogurt: Yogurt is good food that keeps stomach distress at bay. It contains probiotics, (which are nice bacteria found in the digestive tract) that offer a boost to your immune system. Also, it is considered a good source of protein enhancing your ability to digest foods.

Green vegetables: These include asparagus, spinach, kale, and Brussels sprouts. They are highly alkaline, which indicates that they are good for your digestive system and stomach. Because vegetables are naturally low in fat and sugar, they help to reduce the acid of the stomach.

Generally speaking, antacids help to deal with digestion or heartburn. They work by neutralizing the stomach acid that affects the digestive system. Anyone can have antacids without a medical prescription. Liquid forms work faster than tablets since they are easy to use.

Antacids are generally safe for the majority of people. However, people with specific medical conditions should speak with their doctors before consuming certain antacids that include aluminum hydroxide and magnesium carbonate.

Antiviral foods:

What does antiviral mean? Antiviral or antimicrobial entities act to eliminate the expansion of microbes. Also, it can be defined as a drug used to deal with infectious diseases caused by viruses.

Examples of antiviral food:

Herbs: Several familiar herbs may possess antiviral properties. Their compounds may work to kill viruses and lessen the signs of the resulting disease. Herbs have been used as a natural therapy for different diseases and viral infections.

For example, oregano, a herb of the mint family, is recognized for its remarkable therapeutic qualities. Its main compound, "carvacrol,” offers antiviral features. For instance, oregano oil shows an important role in killing viruses such as the HSV-1 virus that causes diarrhea for babies and kids. Besides, oregano can fight the RSV virus which may cause respiratory infections.

Sage: is another element of the mint family as Oregano. It is an aromatic herb that has been used in conventional medicine to deal with viral diseases. A test study showed that sage can fight the HIV1 virus. It prevents the virus from entering the target cells.

Basil: There are different types of basil; examples are sweet and holy basil. Basil plays a key role in fighting diseases. The compounds of sweet basil like ursolic acid and apigenin exhibit powerful influences against hepatitis. In addition, holy basil that is known as tulsi has a great role in boosting your immunity system to combat viruses.

Fennel: is a flavored herb that is considered an antiviral herb since it kills certain viruses. Thanks to fennel extract, respiratory infections in the cattle no longer exist.

Garlic and onion: these are famous natural remedies for a wide range of conditions and viral illnesses. In a research study, twenty-four people with warts caused by papillomavirus used garlic and onion daily. After two weeks, warts disappeared. Garlic has been used as an antiviral food against HIV, HSV1, pneumonia, and rhinovirus.

In general, foods with antiviral properties include herbs, fruits, vegetables, olive oil, fish, nuts and seeds, fungi, and mushrooms...etc. They play key roles in fighting viruses and bacteria.

To sum up, regular exercise in combination with appropriate nutrition may offer great opportunities for alternative medicine to work.
